Allan Wade, 71, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 1, 2017 after a four year courageous battle with an insidious disease that took his mobility, his leg, and finally his life. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Barbara; his son, Adam (Claire); his brother, Tom (Nancy); his sisters Joyce and Arlene, numerous nephews and nieces, and a beloved extended in-law family. Allan was born in Chicago in 1945. From the beginning, work was a very important part of his life. He joined the US Marines in 1963 and became an aircraft electrician. He served two tours in Vietnam and was an instructor at NAS JAX. He left the Marines after eleven years and worked in various jobs, including managing at Krystal for seven years. He then worked at Grumman in St. Augustine from 1983 to 2010. Even though he stressed the importance of work, he loved being retired. He had more time to spend with his family and to indulge in his hobbies of cooking, cars, and motorcycles. He will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. His ashes will be interred at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
