Derek Ted Cooper passed away on August 8, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on May 3, 1957 in Tallahassee, FL to Betty Jean Cooper and the late Ted Wesley Cooper, Jr.

Mr. Cooper earned an associate’s degree in criminology and worked for Arizona Chemical for 31 years. He was a member of Highpoint Community Church and enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Derek was preceded in death by his father; daughter, Elizabeth Pauline Cooper; nephew, Mick Brock; cousins, William Bell, Jr., Michael Bell and Quentin “Chip” Cooper.

Derek is survived by his loving wife, Paige Cooper; children, Mathieu Ted Cooper (Stephanie), Rachael Elaine Cooper, Chanceler Duffer (Christina),Traci Daniels (Bryant), Russell Duffer and Milee Cooper; grandchildren, Adysen Cooper, Leanna, Roma Lee and Chanceler Duffer, Jr., Mason Thomas, Imani Daniels and Malaki Ambrose; sisters, Donna Christian and Sheila Brock; nephews, Ryan (Dixon) Brock and Trey (Christy) Brock; nieces, April Lord, Tina (Boot) Curti and Cissy (Kenny) Cullen; cousins, Cheryl Russell, Rosemary Williams, Linda Tomkins, Pat Childess, Ray Farmer, Jerry Vacarce, Beverly Bell, Phil Cooper, Debbie Bradford, Pam, Lisa, Julie, Carla and Marcia Evans, Jill Sport, Jenny and John Badley, Jr.

The family would like to thank Highpoint Community Church, Mayo Clinic, Island Cheer and South Clay Medical for their kindness and care shown to Derek.

The Celebration of Life Service honoring Derek will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Highpoint Community Church, 84 Knight Boxx Road, Orange Park, FL 32065.
