Gregory Alan Veal, 57, of Fleming Island, Florida (and recently Seattle, Washington area), passed away February 23, 2018.
He was born April 20, 1960, in Savannah, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Veal; his daughters Diana Unay (Jeff Unay), Sarah Veal Dominick (Kyle Dominick), and Alison Veal (Garrett Lyons); his grandchildren Angelina Del Rosario, Julian Unay, Sebastian Unay, Xavier Unay, and another grandchild on the way; his parents Billy and Myrtle Veal; his sister Brenda Kay Zimpel (Mark Zimpel), his brother Tony Veal (Christine Veal), many nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members and friends.
After spending most of his life in Florida, he moved to Washington state to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing, building and working on household projects, history, and music. He never met a stranger that didn't quickly become a friend.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, and is already greatly missed by all.
A note from our family: For those who wish, rather than sending flowers or gifts, we would like to ask friends and family to instead donate to the American Diabetes Association in Greg's name. Greg was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in his 20s, and although he found humor in every aspect of life and never once complained about the hand he had been dealt, Greg, his friends, and his family have seen first hand how terrible this disease can be. We hope that with these funds, we can make a difference for other people and their families living with diabetes. If you wish to donate in Greg's name, please visit http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/Events/Tributes-AlwaysandForever?pxfid=743796&fr_id=5720&pg=fund.
