Milton Brandon McCauley, CDR US Navy, son of Milton Horton McCauley and Tabitha Ann Matthews McCauley, departed this life on January 11, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on June 2, 1972 in Raleigh, NC.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. Commander McCauley proudly served his country with 22 dedicated years of service to the U.S. Navy as a Flight Officer. He was a devoted patriot protecting our nation, flying combat missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, and earning two air medals. He also served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, launching and recovering fighter aircraft in support of the war on terrorism.

Known as Cletus or Wally to his friends, Milton Brandon was a devoted and loving husband, father and son. The most selfless individual, he impacted so many lives, providing compassion and friendship that has endured decades. His infectious charisma always drew many to him and he was well-loved by all.

Milton is survived by his parents, his loving wife, Kali Maree McCauley; children, Kendall Taylor McCauley and Walker Matthew McCauley; and his brother, Preston Reid McCauley.

A military memorial service will be held on January 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Chapel at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. A celebration of life memorial will be held at Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs, NC, on January 27, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, (904) 264-1233, is serving the family.
