Clarence Fulton, Jr. Obituary

Clarence Keezer Fulton Jr. was the eldest child born to Clarence Keezer Fulton and Marie (Marshall) Fulton on August 3, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri.

At age 5 after his father's passing, he moved to Higginsville, Missouri along with his mother and sister Constance (Beverly). He spent most of his childhood there and attended schools both in Higginsville and Springfield.   He was involved in a variety of activities ranging from sports (basketball, track), church, band and excelled at all of them.  He later moved to Kansas City where he attended high school. He was part of the first integrated school systems in the area. It was around that time his mother remarried Reverend W EE Jordan who subsequently raised him, and he considered him to be his father. Clarence attended Gilbert Memorial African Methodist Church where Reverend Jordan presided.

After a short period in the Navy and while in Junior college he married Sarah Helen Watson, and they had their first son Clarence Lynn.  He later moved to St. Louis and after working in business with his Uncle Bill for a period, he was hired on at McDonell Douglas in 1966.  He had a son that same year (Scott).  He worked his way up from the flight line to many executive leadership/director positions in the organization working on T-45, F-18 programs to name a few. He obtained a bachelor’s degree and an MBA during that journey and retired after 35 years from McDonell Douglas/Boeing in 2001.

After the passing of his first wife of 33 years in 1993, he met and married Rosa Jean Woods in 1996. They moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he lived the remainder of his life. They remained happily married for 19 yrs. until Rosa’s passing in 2015.

He enjoyed his retirement spending time with family and friends and especially his grandchildren, Simran and Inesh. He loved to travel to Ohio, Missouri for events and celebrations.

Clarence was very active in his church, taking part in study groups, focus groups, and many other activities bringing people together to discuss how they interpret and use the gospel in everyday life. It is through his church, he met his fiancée, Velda Browne and they shared a love for scripture, travel, and physical exercise.

He was a true Renaissance man and loved to learn new things till the end. Even the pandemic could not slow his spirit when he took up Tail Chi and went on to excel in it. He participated in class exhibitions and daily workouts.

He LOVED to play and talk about golf, and went on yearly trips with his son Scott, family and friends (Flingers). He enjoyed planning “the Fling” as his friends lovingly called it, which has been going on for 40 yrs.

He transitioned to his heavenly abode on February 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sarah Helen Fulton, son Clarence Lynn Fulton, second wife Rosa Jean Woods, sister Constance Beverly Fulton, nephew Gerald Keith Brooks, sister-in-law Windolyn Smith and his parents Clarence K. Fulton Sr., Marie Jordan, Stepfather Rev. W.E. Jordan.

He is survived by his fiancée Velda Browne, son Scott (Mamta), grandchildren Simran and Inesh, stepson Eric Dreger, special brother-in-law- Fred Smith and nephew Derrick (Brandi) and host of family and friends.

He provided a wealth of wisdom, advice and support to his family and friends, and while all of us will carry his amazing legacy forward, we will all miss him dearly.
