Frank Jenkins, Sr., 101 years young, passed away on March 4, 2024 at his home in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on May 29, 1922 in Tallahassee, FL, to the late Timothy and Maggie Jenkins.
In the 1940’s, Frank proudly served his country with the United States Army and in 1950, Frank found his career at the United States Post Office as a postal worker/mail handler and retired after 38 years of good and faithful service.
After retirement, Frank enjoyed sitting in his front yard watering his grass and spending time with his family. He had a special love for fishing, fishing, fishing! And he also had love for a nice suit with a matching hat and a pair of Stacey Adams. He was an active member of Second Missionary Baptist Church where served as a deacon for over fifty years and sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olia-Bell; daughters, Francina Jenkins and Phyllis Jenkins Thomas and son, John Jackson.
Frank is survived by his children, Catherine Jones, Wayne Kendrick, Joe Jones (Yvonne), Kenneth Jones (Gwendolyn), Raymond Jones, Frank Jenkins, Jr, Timothy Jenkins, Harold Jenkins (Valerie), Leroy Jenkins (Delanely), Robert McGee and Quatina Little; twelve granddaughters; seventeen grandsons; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; thirty-five great-great-grandchildren; grandson, Melvin Jenkins (Sandra); special friends Ms. Barbara Reynolds and Delores Scales Scott and a host of other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and funeral service on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 954 Kings Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32204. Immediately following the service, interment with military honors will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park, 2600 Ribault Scenic Drive, Jacksonville, Florida.
