Alexis Nicole Walker

July 5, 1992 ~ September 11, 2017 (age 25) 25 Years Old

Alexis Nicole Walker, 25, of Jacksonville, Florida was given life here on earth July 5, 1992, and God called her to heaven September 11, 2017. She was born the eldest daughter of Gerald and Denise (Williams) Walker. Alexis attended Fleming Island High School and graduated in 2010. She furthered her education at the University of Central Florida (UCF) where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Finance - 2014. While attending UCF Alexis associated with the organizations Coach a Kid Change a Life and Delta Epsilon Mu. Alexis had a desire to become a pediatrician oncology doctor to give hope to children facing childhood cancers. Therefore, Alexis enrolled in the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine to begin her graduate studies in the field of medicine. Alexis completed all but 4 of the required classes to be eligible for graduation. Furthermore, Alexis was an assistant manager at Sea World since her 2014 graduation. 

Alexis was first diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in 2008. It was after Alexis’ first treatment of the disease concluded that Alexis began giving back to the community. Alexis volunteered countless hours at the America Cancer Society, Dreams Come True Events, Harley Davison Motorcycle Bike Rides, Doors of Dreams, Coach a Kid Change a Life, Wolfson Children Hospital, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and countless cancer walks. Moreover, Alexis has art work that was completed with Art With A Heart – Jacksonville, Florida that is on display in the Wolfson Center for the Medically Complex Child. Alexis’ desired to help everyone she encountered, and her smile and strong desire for life was infectious.

Alexis was a member of The Church 3:20, and Fire of The Word her entire life. It was in those churches that she learned to live her life according to the holy scriptures and have complete faith in God. Alexis served God in dance, praise and worship, media, drama and/or any capacity called upon by the leaders of the church. She accepted the Lord as her personal savior, and was baptized under Fire of The Word’s pastoral team.

Alexis is survived by her parents Gerald and Denise (Monique) Walker of Jacksonville Florida, her sisters Amber of Jacksonville, Florida, Asia Walker of Orlando, Florida, and her God child Morgan Jackson Bell of Orlando, FL. She also leaves her maternal grandparents Grover and Delvet Williams of Texas, and Ezellah Williams of Jacksonville, FL and her paternal grandparents Rev. Frank C. Walker and Wanda Walker Cincinnati, OH and Ernest (deceased) and Margaret Wright Cincinnati, OH. Alexis’ maternal great grandparents Eugene and Annie Huckaby (deceased), George and Emma Williams (deceased). Alexis’ paternal great grandparents Robert and Lula B. Rutherford (deceased) and Roberta Smith (deceased) and Ernest Jackson (deceased).  

Alexis’ great aunts and uncles maternal: Eugene (deceased) and Beverly Huckaby, Edward and Marsha Huckaby, Melvin and Edith Burrell, Elmer Huckaby (deceased), Elnora Gardin, Ernest and Judith Huckaby, Elbert and Elouise Huckaby, James and Elaine Goodson, George (deceased) and Tina Williams, Gladys Hobson, Robbie Robinson (deceased) and Gloria Williams, Samuel and Gertrude Burrell, Gilbert Williams, James (deceased) and Grace (deceased) Wormley, Gerald and Patricia Williams, Geneva Senior, and Geraldine White. Alexis’ great aunts and uncles paternal: Louise Warren, Robert Rutherford (deceased) Don Earl Smith, Anderson Jackson (deceased) Sheryl Ann Smith (deceased).  

Alexis is survived by the following aunts and uncles maternal: Wanda Mosley, Jamale Williams, Jon Coburn, Lawadia Tucker, and Wade Tucker. Alexis is also survived by the following aunts and uncles Paternal Tim and June Walker, Frank C. and Mikyraa Walker, Dotrye Harris, Ernest Wright, Precious Wright, Tinisha Wright, Keisha and John Bland, Shawn Allen.

Alexis has numerous cousins.
