Billy Edgar Hyers, age 82, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on June 29, 2018 at Haven Hospice of Orange Park, surrounded by his family. He was born in Bacon County, GA on September 15, 1935, to the late Vera Hyers Jones. His wife Bonita Hyers, five brothers, Jimmy Hyers, Robert Hyers, Joe Jones, Cleon Jones and Earl Jones; and two sisters, Sharon Delama Jones and Fostine Tyrell preceded him in death.
Mr. Hyers is survived by his three children, Randy Busbee, Rhonda Casey and Timmy Hyers; one sister, Denell Wood (Woody), six grandchildren, Julia Clanton, Brandi Patricibee, Tiffani Canady, Brandon Busbee, Amanda Croxton and Riely Casey; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Billy’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, fathers and papa. Among the traits Billy passed on was his tireless work ethic; he started and ran numerous successful businesses throughout his life, never leaving his family wanting for anything. Billy’s passions also extended to his beloved Georgia Bulldogs (Go Dawgs!) to whom his allegiance stayed true even after moving to Florida as a teenager.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the visitation hour beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233 with Rev. R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
