LTJG Carlton D. Herbert, 58, took flight on July 1, 2018 for a celebration with the Lord. His arriving flight was on April 21,1960 in St. Kitts Nevis British West Indies to Myrtle V. Herbert.
Carlton attended the Boy School of St. Kitts and St. Kitts Nevis Basseterre High School; he then continued his education at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida where he received his Bachelors Degree. Carlton was a proud United States Navy veteran. During his time in the Navy, Carlton was commissioned as a United States Naval Officer on November 19, 1995 he also received his pilot certification. He continued his love of flying through out his life. Carlton also loved sailing, vintage cars, music and traveling abroad. He was an active member of the chapel on NAS Jacksonville.
During Carlton’s military career he received many achievement awards and metals including; three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Battle “E” and Navy Expert Piston Ribbon.
Carlton was preceded in death by his grandparents; George and Christiana Herbert.
Carlton is survived by his loving wife, Ketty Yajaira Mercedes Jimenze; children, Carlton Jr., Christy, Yanik, and Kenley Herbert; step-children, Yahira and Yazly Guerrero; beloved mother, Myrtle V. Herbert; grandchildren, Alaina and Xavier Herbert; brothers, Emorah (TJ), Steve, Don, Mike, and Basell ; sister, Betty and a host of other siblings; friends, Eric Gill, Michael Green, Shanna Kosek, the Chaderton family, Donald Armotrading, Shirlow, Kamyar Ibrhimi, Warren and Valerie Berry, Samuel Ambrose and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 12 noon following the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m., both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park Florida 32073, (904) 264-1233.
