Clarence Ernest Caldwell, 63, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully Sunday, September 10, 2017, in St Vincent’s Hospital Riverside, Jacksonville, FL.  He was born on March 21, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Samuel Bourn and the late Doretta Harris. 

Clarence was the Transportation Operations Manager at Walmart DC 6899 in Macclenny, FL.  Clarence loved driving and the game of bowling.  Being a TNBA member for 38 years, you could find him bowling throughout the country.  If not bowling, he would enjoy a game of Texas Holdem.  He also enjoyed watching football “San Francisco 49ers,” baseball “Cleveland Indians,” and most importantly basketball “Cleveland Cavaliers.”  When not watching basketball, he would listen to the NBA channel.  Although born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio he also resided in various areas throughout the country: Las Vegas, NV; Richmond, VA; Eau Claire, WI; Indianapolis, IN; Battle Creek, MI; and Port St. Lucie, FL before settling in Jacksonville, FL.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 23 years, Deborah E. Caldwell; children: Vandylia (Jason) Dent of Boca Raton, FL; Nathaniel Phillips, II, of Richmond, VA;  Carlos (Kaitlyn) Jones of Akron, OH; Antonio Phillips of Miami, FL; Elnora (Paul) Teague of Cleveland, OH; Tierra (Clifton) Hairston of Cleveland, OH; Delmar Yarbrough, Jr. of Miami, FL; and Carlisa Jones of Akron, OH; 16 grandchildren: Jason, Jr., Kneiayra, Elijah, Yasmin, Da’Vion, Jamari, Chloe, Damiyon, Dylan, Angelina, Jaevon, C’iontae, Daireynae, Joseph, Jourdan and John, fathers: Samuel Bourn and Alonza Harris, father-in-law: George Baker all of Cleveland, OH; mother in law: Olympia B. Owens of Odenton, MD; siblings: Vandylia (James) Nash, James Harris, and Michele King all of Cleveland, OH; sisters in law: Lisa (Anthony) Dozier of Odenton, MD; Ericka Baker-Green of Cleveland, OH; Raymond (Melinda) Boyd of Jacksonville, FL; Uncles: John Bloodworth of Cleveland, OH and Wesley Hall of Cleveland, OH; adopted brother: Ronald (Shirley) Gales of Las Vegas, NV; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, co-workers and friends.

The viewing will be Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073. Clarence’s family will receive your condolences at that time.
