Emma Jean Greer
On May 9, 2018 at 7:49 am Emma Jean Greer entered eternal rest. Emma was born June 28, 1950 in Brookhaven, MS to the late Inez Williams. She was comforted by her ability to lean on the Lord during her waning days and gave her life to him before her passing.
Emma was raised in Alton, Illinois where she spent most of her life. She attended the Alton school system where she met most of her life long friends. In 1967 she married Larry D. Greer and of that union they were blessed with three sons; Vincent (Yvonna) Greer of Brimfield Ohio, Anthony Greer of Alton Illinois and Larry Greer of Hillsboro Illinois. She also enjoyed a loving partnership with the late Harold D. Taylor to which two children were born; Karris (Christy) Taylor of Alton Illinois and Karra (Marcus) Pierce of Fleming Island Florida.
During her life time Emma work and enjoyed employment in several nursing homes throughout the southern Illinois region. It was during those stints of employment that she found her gift for caring for the elderly and disabled.
Her family will always cherish all the moments spent just enjoying each others company and all the laughter. Some of the best memories came from time with family and friends.
Emma was preceded in death by her mother Inez Williams and grandmother Missouria McCallum. Also, by her sisters Ida Pearl Scott, Renda Faye Scott and Tammy Scott. She was also preceded in death by her brother Walter Lee Scott.
Along with her children her memories will be cherished by her brothers; Joseph (Belinda) Scott of Atlanta Georgia, Bo Scott of Alton Illinois and Terry Scott of Bellville Illinois. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; Adones Greer, Ashakelaa Greer, Courtney Greer, Larry Greer, Uriah Taylor, Miles Greer, Lariele Greer, Shalarriona Greer, Jordan Copeland, Jaylin Copeland, Anthony Greer, Ariana Pierce, Akeirah Greer, A’leigha Greer, Heavenly Pierce and Jeramih Pierce. She is also survived by Two great-grandchildren Mia Greer and Na’omi Greer and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and enduring friends.
