Joan C. Lavalliere

Joanne C. Lavalliere passed away of a short illness on August 19, 2017 in Orange Park, FL. She was born on October 9, 1948 in Lewiston, ME to the late Paul H. and Loretta (Labbe) Lavalliere.

Joanne graduated from Cathedral High School, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and University of Massachusetts Lowell with a master’s degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse in Boston, MA and Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, FL for many years. Joanne was a Merchant Marine and was on active duty as a nurse during the Gulf War. She was an active member of the VFW Post 5968 where she loved playing darts. She had a great love for all animals, was an avid birdwatcher, traveled to many countries and places in America, and enjoyed playing trivia at Dick’s Wings in Orange Park.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert P. Lavalliere.

Joanne is survived by her sister, Elaine Lavalliere; brother, Roger (Pamela) Lavalliere; aunt, Annette Labbe; nephews, Gregory and Daniel Lavalliere; niece, Selena Lavalliere Pelletier, step nieces, Carey Melanson, Carey Coffin and Crystal Cockran and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston, ME at a later date. Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233, is serving the family.
