Judith Kay Pelto, 72, of Orange Park, FL, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital Middleburg. Judy was born May 8, 1946 in Waukesha, WI, to the late John S. and Esther (Cowell) Woodruff. She graduated from Kent State with a bachelor’s degree in 1969 and received a master’s degree in 1974, from Kent State as well. She worked full time as a public school teacher in Warren, OH, until 1977 when her son Derek was born. She then became a full-time mom and would substitute teach once her children began school. She enjoyed reading and was rarely without a book in the evenings. But her biggest joy was being a wife and a mother. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Joann E. Woodruff, and her brother, John J. Woodruff. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Pelto, her son, Derek Pelto, and her daughter, Amanda (Brandon) Andrews, as well as her three grandsons, Owyn, Emet and Ari Andrews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 1:30 p.m followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida, 32073, (904) 264-1233.
