Kim Arlene Anderson suddenly departed this life on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on January 5, 1957 to the late John and Dorothy Torrence, Sr., in New Rochelle Hospital, New Rochelle, NY.

Kim attended the local public school system of New Rochelle, and graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1975. She attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology, in 1979. Kim began working as a Social Worker with DSS in Westchester County, NY and later transferred to the Department of Probation. She worked as Supervisor of Probation in Portsmouth, VA.

Kim had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. Even while going through serious health challenges, she remained cheerful to a fault and in good spirits. She was generous and never hesitated to help when someone was in need. She loved her family and church family and many times pressed her way to fulfill her duties.Due to health issues, Kim retired from the Clay County Department of Corrections on disability after 25 years of service.

Kim accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior and was active in church work. After relocating to Florida, she joined and served at St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Later she joined the First African Missionary Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs where she served on the Usher and Deaconess Boards.

Kim was an avid Jaguars, New York Giants, New York Mets and Golden State Warriors fan. She also loved women's tennis and basketball teams. She chaperoned the girls’ AAU basketball and Clay High School Band. Kim also loved Broadway shows and plays.

She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Anthony Anderson; parents, John and Dorothy Torrence, Sr.; grandparents, Jeffrey and Maggie McBride, Anna and Kenneth Long and Albert Jolly, Sr.; father-in-law, Richard Franklin Anderson; uncles, Jefferson Davis McBride, Jr., Gerald McBride and Albert Jolly, Jr.; and aunt, Marion McBride Garcia.
