Lucilla Johnsen went to be with her Lord on October 16, 2018, in Jacksonville, FL, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter and one granddaughter, Jennipher.
Lucilla was a devoted wife, mother, and full-time homemaker. She was active in the churches and communities in which she lived throughout her life. In Herndon, VA, where she lived for many years, she taught English as a second language, volunteered as a reader at Herndon Elementary School, served as the recording secretary at the Reston-Herndon Senior Center, and was recognized with an Outstanding Senior Adult Award by the Department of Community and Recreation Services, Fairfax County, VA. Later, she hand-sewed bindings for Community Quilts of Hampshire County, WV. At Riverside Presbyterian House in Jacksonville, FL, she was active in a variety of social and religious activities until she became too fragile to continue. She was an avid reader and devout Christian all of her life.
Lucilla is survived by four children, Luci (Dan) Harris of Slanesville, WV, Lorraine (George) Miller of Orange Park, FL, Karen (Robert) Goolsky of Jacksonville, FL, and Walter Johnsen of Callahan, FL; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 4:00 p.m. with a following at 5:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, 904-264-1233. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
