Marquis O. Harrison

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Marquis O'neal Harrison, our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend, passed suddenly on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the young age of 35.

Marquis will be missed every day by his children, Markis, King, and Iyana; father, Moses Harrison; mother, Jennifer Marshall Harrison; brothers, Robert, Harold and Chester; sisters, LaKicha, Nadine, Sonja and Raven; his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many, many great friends.

Born on July 15, 1983 in Queens, NY, Marquis moved to and spent most of his life in upstate NY. He was a highly regarded church drummer, playing with multiple recording artists and musicians.  Marquis was also a student athlete, graduating from Shaker High School with multiple school records, state championships, and national medal placements in track & field, gymnastics and wrestling.

Marquis went on to live in Jacksonville, and would remain there for the last 9 years of his life where he worked as a professional driver. He continued the compassionate work of his parents, as a foster parent to multiple kids in need of placement. Marquis was a witty, comical spark to any social setting, and was a talented dancer, a skilled lyricist, a very loving father and uncle, but most importantly, a true compassionate friend.  For those that knew him, there was no questioning whether or not your back was covered.

Though the last couple years presented challenges, when you think of Marquis, celebrate the good memories you have of him. And, in all that you do, please remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

A viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12 noon on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
