MICHELLE ANGUELLA MORLE JONES was born on April 11, 1963 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. She departed this life on Saturday, July 21, 2018. She spent her early childhood in Trinidad. In the early 1970s, the family departed for the United States residing in Brooklyn, New York. Upon graduating from high school in 1981, she left Brooklyn to join the U.S. Air Force where she served honorably for four years. After a brief period as a homemaker, she returned to federal service as a civil servant serving in various capacities and locations across the country. She spent the last 22 years in Jacksonville where she was employed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Department of Labor. She retired from federal service in 2017 after 34 years of dedicate service to our nation.
She married her husband, Athanase in 1982 of which the union produced two children - Christopher (Amanda) and Matthew. Michelle was a lifelong Catholic who was a member of Saint Pius V Catholic Church in Jacksonville until her death. Michelle was also a proud member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary, having served as a Past Grand Lady of Walter J. Darcy Court 335 and a Gracious Lady of St. Martin de Porres Ladies of Grace Grand Chapter 51.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ms. Faith Flemming Morle and Mr. Winston Stuart Morle.
Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Athanase; sons, Christopher (Amanda) and Matthew; sister, Lisa Morle; brother, Raphael Morle; beloved cousin, Sterling Baird; and three grandchildren, Hannah, Clarke, and Cohen. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, devoted caregivers, and loving parishioners.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 2110 Blue Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32209. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
