Tonya D Goodman

Tonya D. Goodman passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

Tanya Denise Goodman, affectionately known as “Tonya”, was born in Carmichael, California to the late Jeannette Poole Goodman, Hezekiah Goodman and Charles Nicholson Sr. She was the oldest of five children. Later, her family relocated to Jacksonville, FL.

Tonya attended the local schools of Duval county. She grew up attending New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of Sweetwater Church of Christ.

Tonya was an exceptional cook and was starting her own business, The Greedy Gal INC. She was well known for her one of a kind crab cakes. At one time, she along with one of her aunts, prepared breakfast on Sunday mornings for her minister. She also assisted with food distribution at Sweetwater Church of Christ’s food bank. Tonya was currently employed with Amazon.

Tonya was the mother of two children, Latia and Kevin, and the grandmother to Morgan whom she loved very much.

On October 17, 2019, Tonya transitioned from this life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeannette Poole Goodman and brother, Aaron Goodman. She leaves to cherish her memory, her fathers, Hezekiah Goodman and Charles Nicholson, Sr. (Mildred); daughter, Latia Goodman; son, Kevin Goodman; sisters, May Goodman, Aretha Goodman, and Iris Davidson; brothers, Ronald Goodman and Charles Nicholson, Jr. (Kristalyn); granddaughter, Morgan Brown; aunts, Annette Harmon (Jack), Kimable George, Carrie Lundy, Lassie Griffin, Queenester Johnson, Dorothy Coffey (Richard, Sr.) and Betty Nicholson (Walter); uncles, Willie Poole (Felisha) and Leo Morgan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. 

The funeral will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. following the visitation hour beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Greater Church of God by Faith, 2434 Old Middleburg Road N., Jacksonville, FL 32210.
