Ramos, Alberto Anthony Obituary
Alberto Anthony “Al” Ramos, 65, passed away on August 7, 2025 in Orange Park, Florida. Born on January 18, 1960, in Long Island City, Queens, New York, Alberto lived a life marked by dedication, service, and quiet strength.
Alberto received his high school diploma from Thomas A. Edison Vocational and Technical High School. His early education laid the foundation for a distinguished career in the United States Navy, where he served honorably for 20 years as a First Class Machinery Repairman. During his time aboard the U.S.S. Yosemite, he ran the machine and tool shop with precision and ingenuity. Among his many contributions was the fabrication of a specialized tool that enabled the ship to continue its maneuvers at sea – a testament to his skill and commitment to excellence.
Throughout his military career, Alberto earned numerous awards recognizing his machining expertise and dedication. He was honored with both the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) medals- symbols of his versatility and professionalism in naval operations.
Beyond his military service, Alberto was known for his love of sports. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing as well as basketball and football, pastimes that brought him joy and relaxation.
Alberto is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Holloway-Ramos; daughters Tyrisha T. Gilford (Trent) and Shantrissa Ramos; grandchildren Trenity L. Gilford, Iverson B. Gelzer, and Indy S. Gelzer; and sister, Nancy Carazo. He also leaves behind a beloved niece, nephew, cousins, and friends who will cherish their memories of him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emilio Ramos; mother, Francis Sanchez; sisters Victoria “Vicky” O’Leary and Sonia Ramos; and brother Emilio “Sonny” Ramos Jr.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both at Aaron Burney Bivens Funeral Home located at 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Cancer Specialists of North Florida as well as the staff at University of North Florida and Mayo Clinic for their compassionate care and support during Alberto’s illness.
