Amzie Zedikiah Brown, Jr. “Mr. Brown,” was born on September 19, 1952, to the late Rev. Amzie Z. Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Alvernie F. Brown in Varnville, SC. Mr. Brown was educated at North District Training School and graduated from Wade Hampton High School in the class of 1970.

Amzie accepted Christ at an early age at St. Paul CME Church, Ritter, SC, under the leadership of his father, Rev. Amzie Brown, Sr. Amzie was a member of the youth choir and assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School.

Amzie moved to Jacksonville, FL, in 1970 to attend Massey Technical College, where he graduated with an Associate degree in Engineering. Amzie wed Rosalind Waye of Jacksonville, FL, in 1972 and two children were born to the union.

Amzie earned his Bachelor of Science degree during his service in the Army. Amzie joined the United States Army in 1977, where he served as a Machinist, Infantryman and Recruiter over his 20-year enlistment. Amzie completed his service at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, MD, where he retired in 1997.

Mr. Brown moved back to Jacksonville in 2009. He later moved to the Philippines in 2011, where he married his beloved wife, Baby Liza Mabanta Brown. Mr. Brown and Liza moved to Jacksonville in 2013 when Typhoon Yolanda destroyed their home in Manila, Philippines.

Amzie loved and was an avid fan of NASCAR, Formula 1, and NHRA drag racing, and enjoyed flying drones and airplanes. He and his wife participated in RC Traxxas competitions. Amzie was also passionate about shaping Bonsai Trees and watching The Westminster Club Dog Show and competitions. Amzie was ardent about cooking and watching cooking shows on TV. Amzie and Liza enjoyed traveling to different spots in the U.S. and Philippines.

Amzie departed this life on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Kindred Hospital North Florida, Green Cove Springs, FL. Amzie was preceded in death by his beloved “Boy” Clancey.

Amzie leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Baby Liza Mabanta Brown; son, Amzie Zedikiah Brown, III (Nellie); daughter, Allison Nicole Brown Adkins; and stepson, Dave Denver Emmanuel Mabanta; “The Boys,” J. Tyler and Bentley Jay; grandsons, Brian A. Adkins, Rome Zedikiah Leite Brown, Ehren Manecas Leite Brown, granddaughter, Zaria Nicole Adkins; great-grandson, Amir Kai Adkins; and twins, great-granddaughter, Sol Arnelle Leite Brown and great-grandson, Sage Zedikiah Leite Brown; brothers, Bruce Michael Brown (Sylvia) and James Phillip Brown; sister, Marian Annetta Hannah; nephews, Mark Anthony Young, Bruce Michael Brown, Jr. (Jennie), James Phillip Brown, Jr. (Rhonda), Preston Demarco Brown and Glenn Nathaniel Hannah (DeAmber), nieces, Wanda Latrelle Powell (Alu), Bree Victoria Brown, Jada Miranda Brown, Syrita Brutecia Brown and Brudetra Shaneek Davis; cousins, Arthur Stevens (Nancy), Elijah Stevens (Beth), James Williams (Juanita), William Billy Williams (Darlene), Anthony Gilyard (Darleen), Ronald Simmons, Donald Simmons, Annie Saxby Sneed, Jenny Garvin, Mary Ann Williams, Thomasina Brown, Joyce Williams, Pamela Simmons; Special Friends of the Family, Doris Bennet Pitts, Ruth Johnson, Vera McCain, a host of cousins, family and friends.
