Annette Ansley Obituary

Annette Swilley Ansley was born November 21, 1937 to parents, Anthony Swilley and Sarah Jane Hunt in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the youngest of six siblings: five on her father’s side and one on her mother’s side. Annette excelled in school and completed her high school studies at New Stanton high school in Jacksonville in 1957. She then went on to obtain an associates degree in business administration, with a focus on shorthand and typing, from Walter Vocational and Commercial College in Jacksonville.

She married Alfred Lee Ansley, Sr. and together they had four children. Annette enjoyed being a homemaker with her children and she especially enjoyed being a grandmother to her grandchildren. She loved her family and was especially close to her mother, Sarah Jane, affectionately known as Bammi. She raised her children and grandchildren with an emphasis on love, faith and forgiveness. Her love of books and school inspired her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to strive to reach their dreams. Annette loved the Lord and took great joy in reading the scriptures and listening to all gospel music.

When Annette was not relaxing in her rocking chair on the porch, reading, doing crosswords, playing Bingo, watching Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, she was busy making friends with her humor, infectious laugh and sassy wit. Annette embraced the joy of living day by day. There are so many attributes that we love and will forever miss. And the one truth that encompasses everything is that Annette understood love, God’s love. She made sure to show that to everyone she had the pleasure of knowing, and that pure Love is truly Annette Ansley’s legacy.

Annette is survived by her older brother, Douglas Swilley, four children, Al Ansley (Kathryn), Angeletta Johnson (Roger), Anthony Michael Ansley, Sr. (Gail) and Dahlia Brown; nine grandchildren, Ariel Ansley (Chasity), Anthony Michael Ansley, II (Jairia), Antwan Ansley (Elizabeth), Micola Ansley, Miles Johnson, Amber Ansley, Jordan Brown, Armand Ansley and Asia Ansley; eight beautiful great-granddaughters and a host of extended family, friends and acquaintances.
