Betty J. Ridenhour

Betty J. Ridenhour, 88, beloved mother, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2021 in Orange Park, FL. She was born on March 7, 1933 in Concord, NC, to the late Raymond and Ada Cathcart.

She grew up in Concord, NC where her parents owned and operated a local bakery. Betty married her high school sweetheart on February 11, 1950 which then embarked her on a life’s long adventure. With her husband, Max, enlisting in the Navy to service our great country, it immersed her into becoming a military spouse. She devoted and supported him for 26 years, relocating abroad and raising children. Through this exciting journey, she learned and participated in different cultural traditions, enjoyed meeting others while providing a diverse and stable foundation to her family.

Betty resided in Jacksonville, FL since 1970 and was a member of Oak Crest United Methodist Church and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She was active in her fellowship by volunteering her time to the community. She loved social gatherings, cooking, baking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She truly loved life to the fullest through simple pleasures.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Max K. Ridenhour; son, Chuckie Ridenhour and brother, Raymond “RB” Cathcart.

Betty is survived by her children, Max Ridenhour, Jr., Randall Ray (Patti) Ridenhour, Jeanene (Perry) Hall and Brian Ridenhour; grandchildren, Jason, Kyle, Lauren and Taylor Hall, Karrie and Amanda Ridenhour, Brooke Wilson and Tyler Ridenhour; great-grandchildren, Collin “CJ”, Isabella, Gabriel, Jaden and Krimson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Life Care Center of Orange Park, her doctor, Dr. Pitocchi, her church fellowship and friends for all their love and support.

There will be a graveside memorial service with family in Concord.
