Bobby Lee Cowart, Jr., affectionally known as “BJ”, was born on March 19, 2000, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He is the beloved son of Bobby Cowart, Sr. and Tanaka Cowart. He departed this life on April 24, 2026 at the age of 26 years old.
Bobby graduated from Oakleaf High School in 2018 and later completed several college courses. He was employed as a front desk clerk at The Courtyard Marriott, where he was known for his professionalism and helpful spirit.
A faithful believer, Bobby was a member of Word of Truth Ministry and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. His faith remained an important part of his life.
Bobby had a lifelong love of trains and a natural gift for technology. He enjoyed gaming, exploring computers, reading, and expressing himself creatively through drawing. Those who knew Bobby will remember his gentle nature, unique interests, and the joy he brought to others.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Oliver Cowart, Jr.
He is survived by his maternal great grandfather Lonnie Dixon, paternal grandmother, Eliza Cowart; maternal grandmothers, Betty Gibson and Josephine Sanders; maternal grandfathers, Oscar Sanders and William Gibson; his sister, Chinecqua Cowart; his nephew and niece, Jerry and Camirra Wells; and a loving extended family that includes aunts Tonya Davis (Keith ), Monica Miller (Tommy), Natasha Brown (John), and Amelia Bronson (Travis), his uncle, Oscar Sanders, Jr. (Ashley), and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, and friends.
Bobby Lee Cowart, Jr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service which will be held at 12 noon, at Word of Truth Ministry, 2121 Kings Road, Jacksonville, FL 32209.
