On Thursday, March 5, 2020, Bruce Sulkala of Jacksonville, FL passed away at age 81.
Bruce was born on March 13, 1938 in Marlborough, MA to Miriam and Osmo Sulkala. He honorably served in the US Navy, had a career with IBM, owned his own service station and retired from Revlon.
Bruce had a passion for the game of golf and loved watching football rooting for his Georgia Bulldogs. He was also quite good at shooting pool. Perhaps a little-known fact was his ability at throwing horseshoes. Truth be known he loved all sports.
He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Bruce had a plethora of friends who all knew that if you had Bruce for a friend then you had a friend for life.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Osmo and his mother, Miriam and his twin sister, Nancy. He is survived by his five children, John, Scott, Andy, Nancy and Matt. He is also survived by his sisters, Virginia, Pam, Karen and his brothers, John, Eric, Kurt and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073. A celebration will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the Bar J. Ranch, 4564 Crazy Horse Avenue, Middleburg, FL 32068 followed by a procession to Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218 for honors and burial at 1:30 p.m.
