Carol Hettick Obituary

On March 7, 2025, Carol Jean Hettick, 74, of Jacksonville, FL, was called home by her Lord to be with her beloved husband, Ferol W. Hettick, who passed away on March 20, 2019.  Carol and Ferol were married on August 15, 1970, in Jacksonville, IL.

Carol was born to Harold and Mary Martin on October 9, 1950, in Jacksonville, IL.  She graduated from New Berlin High School, New Berlin, IL, in 1968.

Carol continued her studies at Norris Hospital, in Jacksonville, IL and graduated with a CNA license. Carol attended Jacksonville Christian Church where she met Ferol.  Carol did not have a car at nursing school, and Ferol’s parents drove her to and from church on Sundays.  Ferol happened to be home from school one weekend and was with his parents when they picked her up on Sunday.

After her nursing career and becoming a mother, Carol provided childcare for many years, as she loved children.  Carol held several bookkeeping jobs and retired from TSYS Payment Solutions in Columbus, GA.  Carol loved doing craft projects of all types especially scrapbooking and rug hooking.

She was passionate about supporting Camp Bluebird, the first adult cancer camp, and Christian Action & Relief for Haiti (C.A.R.H.A.), a nonprofit organization established to aid in the livelihood of Haitian families on a spiritual, mental, financial and physical level.  She taught Sunday school or worked in the nursery at the churches they attended and loved having tea parties with the children and moms as well.

Carol is survived by her two sons, Daryl (Leslie) Hettick, Jacksonville, FL and Gerald (Carolyn) Hettick, Watertown, NY; two grandsons, Andrew Hettick, Jacksonville, FL and Matthew  Berghorn, Lexington Park, MD; four great-grandsons, Ayden, Owen, Benjamin, and Waylon; brother, Daniel (Nancy) Martin, Springfield, IL; sister, Janet Smith, Springfield, IL; brother-in-law Bob (Candi) Hettick, Palmyra, IL; nephews, Kyle Hettick (Lindsey), Palmyra, IL; and Richard Martin, Manchester, IL; great-niece, Jillian and two great-nephews, Drake and Vaughn and several cousins.
