Carolyn Shields Barber

Carolyn Shields Barber, 77, passed away on April 26, 2026, in Orange Park, FL. She was born on July 13, 1948, in South Boston, VA, to the late Edward Lewis Shields and Lucille Long Shields.

Carolyn was a strong, determined and amazing mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, playing Spider Solitaire, drinking Diet Dr. Pepper and snacking on Ritz Peanut Butter Crackers. Carolyn loved deeply, forgave quickly, was always helping others and loved all animals. She was wonderfully kind and beautiful inside and out who loved being surrounded by joy and happiness.

Family members preceding Carolyn in death are her parents and brothers, Thomas Shields, Benny Shields and Michael Shields,

Carolyn is survived by her loving daughters, Sabrina Barber and Amy Barber Taylor; grandsons, Calvin Jennings, Jr. and Alan Taylor, Jr.; brother, Jeffrey Shields; sister, Deborah Powell and a host of other family members and friends.
