Mary Carolyn Nienhiser Marsh, of Orange Park, passed away June 26, 2024.
Carolyn was born in Chapin, Illinois to Esther and Albert Nienhiser on August 27, 1932. She graduated from MacMurray College in 1952, with a nursing degree and married Alvin Marsh on November 27, 1955.
As a Navy family, she lived in seven different states and moved to Orange Park, Florida in 1969. She was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church. She enjoyed living on the water (but never learned to swim), loved working outside in her flower garden and still mowed her yard at age 84.
She was dedicated to her family and played an important role in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She never met a stranger and loved to talk, talk, talk… She had a positive impact on us all, and we are forever grateful.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Audra and brother, Eugene.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (David) Dorsey and son, Steven (Jana) Marsh; grandchildren, Allen (Shelby) Dorsey, Michael (Nikki) Dorsey, Shawn (Megan) Dorsey, Elizabeth (Austin) Bradshaw, Audra Marsh, Timothy Marsh and Chandler Marsh; great grandchildren, Liam Dorsey, Owen Dorsey, Eve Bradshaw and Michael Dorsey, Jr.; sisters-in- law, Florence Jane Nienhiser and Shirley Terrell and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Grace Cemetery, St. Paul’s Church Road in Chapin, Illinois.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of a contribution to Advent Lutheran Church, 2156 Loch Rane Blvd., Orange Park, Florida).
