Dale Reneé Vanleer

Dale Reneé Vanleer passed away peacefully on June 6, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 7, 1957 in Chicago, IL, to William C. Young and Henrietta L. Young. She had five brothers and seven sisters. 

Dale served in the United States Navy and retired after 20 years of service, followed by meritorious service as a Department of Defense Production Controller for 16 years. 

She earned an associate degree in business. Dale’s hobbies included making leather and cloth hats, putting puzzles together and collecting and wearing uniquely designed Dr. Marten boots. She loved dancing and listening to music, reading Jane Austen novels and traveling to various United Kingdom Jane Austen movie production locations. She also enjoyed photography while travelling in the United States and numerous countries abroad.  

Dale was preceded in death by her father, William C. Young, adopted parents Joe and Theresa Jenkins and her sister, Louise D. Lewis.

Dale is survived by her loving husband, Louis Vanleer; her daughter, Korie A. Vanleer and son, Ian A. Vanleer. She is also survived by her mother, Henrietta L. Young; brothers, William C. Young, Jr., Douglas L. Young, Louis D. Young, Donald Young and Mark Howard; her sisters, Donna M. Jones, Carrie N. Neal, Lynice D. Young, Debra J. Young, Barbara A. Bradstreet, Gloria Lambert and Joann Boesen; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Dale’s love for Louis lives on beyond her passing, and her love for her family shined like a bright light for everyone to see.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
