David Alexander Stirling

David Alexander Stirling, 77, passed away on October 24, 2023 in Orange Park, FL. He was born on June 15, 1946, in Hopkinsville, KY, to the late Alexander Ruffin Stirling and Beulah Simmons Stirling.

Dave was known for his sense of humor, his friendly demeanor, pranks and corny jokes. He never met a stranger. Dave graduated from the University of Louisiana (USL) in Lafayette, LA.

Dave served in the U. S. Navy and retired as a Navy Commander and went on to work for Delta Airlines.

The center of Dave’s life was his family. At USL, he met and married Claudia Jarreau. They were married for fifty-two years, had two sons, Richard and Michael. They lived in various places in the U.S.A including Hawaii and Puerto Rico. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, Addison and Leighton. Visits were cherished and he was so proud of them.

David was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island, FL. He enjoyed bowling, playing poker, and renovating investment properties. David lived his life to the fullest and completed his bucket list.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claudia Marie Stirling and sister, Geraldine B. Stevens.

David is survived by his sons, Richard Nelson Stirling and Michael Wayne Stirling; grandchildren, Addison Patrick Stirling and Leighton Nessa Stirling; sister, Diane Patricia Stirling; nieces, Michelle Kinney, Stacy Lindabury and Savannah White and a host of other family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7190 Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003.  Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society.
