Sergeant Dock Woodard, Jr. passed away on July 20, 2023, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was born on July 30, 1998, to Muntrella Woodard and the late Dock Woodard, Sr.
Sgt. Woodard enlisted in the Marine Corps on 24 January 2016 and underwent recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation, Private First Class Woodard reported to School of Infantry “SOI”, Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Following SOI, Pfc Woodard was subsequently assigned the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 0621, Field Radio Operator and went on to attend Marine Corps Communication School, Twentynine Palms, California. Upon completion, Lance Corporal Woodard received orders to 1st Battalion 4th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, California where he served as Field Radio Operator. On 30 October 2021, Corporal. Woodard received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 15, 1st Marine Logistic Group, Camp Pendleton, California, where he deployed as a Field Radio Operator in support of the Marine Expeditionary Unit. Upon completion of this deployment, Sgt. Woodard applied for a lateral move to Explosive Ordnance Disposal. Sgt. Woodard received orders to Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal in 29 March 2022.
Sgt. Woodard completed Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal in December 2022 and received orders to 2nd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, where he served as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician, Military Occupation Specialty 2336.
Sgt. Woodard enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going to the gun range, and loved reading and learning regarding his job as an EOD Tech.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dock Woodard, Sr.
Dock is survived by his loving wife, Dominique Woodard, and his mother, Muntrella Woodard.
