Westly V. Forbes was born on March 29, 1933 to, Mowbray Forbes and Daisy Hunt in Halfway Tree, Kingston, Jamaica. Wesley received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior around the age of 18. He then made the conversion from Catholicism to the Baptist faith.
Wesley wore many hats in his life. When Wesley entered the ministry, he became a missionary serving in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, where he established the Road Town Baptist Church. He then spent the next 15 years of his life serving on that island. As a result of his service, Wesley was well respected and loved by many in the BVI.
Wesley then decided to further his education in the United States. He graduated from Nova University, and in 1978 he earned his Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree from Luther Rice College and Seminary, where he became a professor.
After teaching, Wesley worked as a salesman for New York Life, Life of Georgia, MetLife and Liberty National.
Wesley never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ with everyone he met. He always had a plan. He put 110% into everything that he did. If he made up his mind about a matter, nothing could change it. It's so much to be said about Wesley that it simply will not fit on this page. Wesley will be dearly missed.
Wesley leaves to mourn, a devoted wife of 35 years Christine, a brother Bernard, two stepdaughters Audriane "AJ" Turner (Willie James) and Melody Alexandra Jones; three grandchildren, Cortni Jackson, Mitchell Jackson III and Jamey Turner; two great-grandchildren, Christina George and Mitchell Jackson IV; brother-in-law, Alie Oliver (Lula); sisters-in-law, Ida Brown (Sam) and Ava Baker, and a host of nephews and nieces.
