On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Edith Elaine Corsaut, a loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 66. She was better known as “Dolly,” a nickname given at birth.
On September 8, 1972, Dolly married Oscar Lee Corsaut Jr. and they enjoyed loving and laughing for almost 49 years. They raised a son and daughter, David and Wendy.
Dolly was a Navy brat, her father Chief Petty Officer Wilbur Fanchier, served for 20 years in the United States Navy. Dolly served with distinction in the toughest job in the Navy — that of a Navy Wife. Her husband, Chief Petty Officer Oscar L. Corsaut Jr., served in the U.S. Navy for more than 22 years. During this time, Dolly worked for the Navy Exchange, mastering various accounting/shipping supervisory jobs while going to college at night. She retired after 20 years.
She loved to ride roller coasters and listen to live music. Orlando was her favorite place to visit because of all the amusement parks. Her favorites days were Halloween Horror Nights, Mardi Gras, the Food and Wine Festivals and Summer Concerts.
Dolly was diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in February 2020 and fought the disease valiantly for a year until it was obvious all treatments had failed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur; her mother, Edith; and her son, David. She is survived by her loving husband, Oscar; her daughter, Wendy (Chris); and two grandchildren, Jacquoia and Julius.
Dolly was a very strong, independent, and caring person. She was candid and always spoke her mind. Her friends and family adored her and admired her strength and her fun witty personality. Dolly always put her families needs ahead of her own. She proved over and over she was one of the strongest individuals GOD put on this earth. Rest in Peace Dolly.
A memorial service will be postponed until June or July 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
