Edward Jones

Edward Jones, 68, passed away on June 11, 2023 in Gainesville, FL. He was born on March 29, 1955 in Pineville, LA, to the late Ezery Jones and Bertha Jones.

Edward served twenty-one years with the U.S. Navy and twelve years as a transportation manager. He was affiliated with Light in the Word, Victorious and Grace Fellowship Ministries. Edward enjoyed driving, serving others and lending an open ear. He never met a stranger and was quick to remember your name.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Derrick Jarod Robbins, Sr.; brother, Dixie Gibson, Jr.; sisters, Marie Gibson and Dorothy A. Peterson.

Edward leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Margie V. Brannen-Jones; children, Destiny Janay Jones and Darrell Javon Brannen (Kadijah); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Bernard Jones, Ezra C. Jones, Richard W. Jones, Sr. and Russell Jones; sisters, Carolyn J. Murray and Marcia Revis (Ronald); inlaws and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a funeral service on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073 (904) 264-1233. Interment will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
