Edward Eugene Middleton, 84, passed away on April 24, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 14, 1939 in Alton, IL, to the late Mansie Sterling Middleton and Edna (Oseland) Middleton.
Ed received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Masters Degree in Sanitary Engineering, Masters Degree in Business Administration and Doctorate Degree in Public Affairs. He retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers and was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFEA).
Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the US and Europe for the Corps, and especially family trips to Hawaii, Ireland, Puerto Rico, and following the grandchildren’s sports all over the U.S., and other family short trips, reading history and spy novels, and watching sports (anything grandchildren played), Colleges, (especially everything Mizzou, University of West Florida Men’s Soccer, University of Miami Women’s Soccer, Oklahoma University Women’s Soccer), and all Pro sports, especially Jaguars Football and Cardinals Baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Sue Middleton; children, David (Trina) Middleton and Debra (Doug) Mullin; grandchildren, Lagan Mullin, Kiernan Mullin, Tommy Middleton, Erika Middleton, Mia Middleton, Bentlie Middleton, and Michael Middleton; nephews, Kenny Middleton, Stanley Middleton and Jimmy Middleton and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, 904-264-1233.
