Erika Dawn Hazouri Barefoot

On Sunday, March 22, 2020, Erika Dawn Hazouri Barefoot, a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 39. Erika was born on November 30, 1980 in Jacksonville, FL, to Marjory Dawn and James J. Hazouri, III.

In spite of the many challenges life sometimes brought, Erika fought hard and had overcome many obstacles along the way. She made us all stronger by her steadfast courage and faith in the face of great odds.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her two sons, Jaden and Johnathan, helping them understand how best to navigate life in a difficult world and watching them play ball. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and time with her bouncy Boston Terrier, “Ace.” 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Myrtle and James J. Hazouri, Jr., and Wallace Williams.

Erika is survived by her husband, Johnny Barefoot; sons, Jaden Mendez and Johnathan Barefoot; her parents, Marjory Dawn and James J. Hazouri, III; brother, Jacob Hazouri (Kimber); and nephews, Cason and Asher.

Erika will be remembered for her infectious personality, love for her family and sharp wit.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the family will have a private service to honor and celebrate Erika’s life.
