Ervin Thomas Kohn

Ervin Thomas Kohn was born on June 4, 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida to Ernestine Mills and Leon Kohn.  He was raised in the Sweetwater area and educated in the Duval County Public Schools.  He graduated from Edward White High School in 1973.  After high school he joined the Unites States Army and   retired in 1998.  He also retired from IRS and Clay County Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Kohn was a loving and devoted husband, father, and man of God. He was affectionately known for his sense of humor, candor, and fondness for his community. He was immensely passionate about his family, friends, and his church.  His greatest pleasure was providing guidance and words of wisdom to those who graced his presence, as he sincerely cared for people. 

To continue his legacy and cherish his memories, he leaves his devoted wife of 40 years, Diane Saunders Kohn; daughters, Nicole Kohn of Hinesville, GA and Kia Kohn of Orange Park, FL; son, DeMario Kohn (Tasha) of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Angela Kohn; brother, John Kohn (Flora) of Jacksonville; sister- in-law, Gwendolyn Lumpkins; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Saunders (Tonya) of Augusta, GA; sister-in-law, Sharon Ridley (Cecil) of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Joyce Goins; sister-in-law, Ann Goins of Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Cynthia Lewis (James) of Houston, TX; and mother-in-law, Louise Welch (Nugent) and a host nieces, nephews, and cousins and many sorrowing friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue Orange Park, FL 32073. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Hopewell, 3990 Loretto Road, Jacksonville, FL 32223. Interment with military honors will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11:00 at  Jacksonville, National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville 32218.
