Essie Mae McCutchen passed away on November 28, 2023 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on December 8, 1935 in Middleburg, FL, to the late Macon and Lillie Mae (Wicks) McDower.
Essie loved the simple things in life. She loved planting flowers and enjoyed their beauty. In her younger years, Essie loved going fishing.
She was a quiet person yet knew how to make herself heard. Essie made people feel comfortable around her. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed the sound of children playing. Essie had a good heart and a warm, loving spirit.
Her work history included Clay County School Board, Broody and Spence Patio Furniture and Consulate Nursing Home.
Essie was preceded in death by her parents, Macon and Lillie Mae McDower; her husband, Robert McCutchen; sister, Mary Frances Pender and brother, Edward McDower.
Essie’s memory will be cherished by her children, Marietta Wych, Mavena (Clifford) Smith, Robbin (Ernest) Jones and Robert (Kejauna) McCutchen, Jr.; stepdaughter, Rose (Mike) Bruns; stepson, Micheal (Kisha) McCutchen; sister, Claretha Gainer; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
