Obituary of Floyd George Parker

Floyd George Parker, 76, formerly of Sackets Harbor, NY passed away on January 24, 2026, at HCA Hospital in Orange Park, FL after suffering a long illness. God bless and rest his beautiful soul.

He was born on October 29, 1949, in Watertown, NY, son of Kenworth James and Octalana (Burnup) Parker of Sackets Harbor, NY. He was predeceased by his parents.

Floyd attended school throughout all grades at Sackets Harbor High School and graduated in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1969 and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician Third Class Petty Officer on board the USS Saratoga (CV-60) during the Vietnam War.

He married Deanna K. Hopkins, November 26, 1969, at Christ Episcopal Church in Sackets Harbor, NY. They resided in Virginia Beach, VA where he was stationed. Following his discharge from the United States Navy, Floyd and his family returned to Sackets Harbor, NY where he was employed as a maintenance superintendent and a plumber.

He relocated to Deerfield Beach, FL in 1982 to be near family, and was employed at Deerfield Builders Supply. Floyd started work there as a sales associate in the hardware store and then moved to work in the lumber yard where he became the maintenance foreman. He worked there for more than twenty years along with his three sons.

He was divorced and never remarried. Floyd was a devoted father who worked hard raising his four children. Floyd was also a caring Son-in-law who looked after his aging Father-in-law before his passing.

In 1994 Floyd moved to Lakeland, FL, where he took a position to assist in the start up of a new juice plant for Lemon-x beverage company. While employed there he managed the maintenance of the plant and traveled statewide as a field service technician installing beverage systems. He worked for Lemon-x until he retired in Lakeland, FL in 2014.

Floyd was a very skilled and talented individual with an impeccable work ethic. He loved his work and his family. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. Floyd will forever be missed by all those whomever had the honor of knowing him.

He is survived by his four children: Daniel Scott Hopkins, Lighthouse Point, FL, David Knight Parker, Lighthouse Point, FL, Dara Jean (James) Boatwright, Mulberry, FL, and Dean Joseph (Amy) Parker, Orange Park, FL, and grandchildren.
