Frank Burrows Obituary

Frank Michael Burrows, 65, son of Donald Norman Burrows, the late Annie Marie Charlotte Kein-Borrows and brother of the late Norman Patrick Burrows passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, FL at approximately 2:30 p.m. He was born April 29, 1955 in Detroit, MI.

Frank “the Dawg” fought a long and vigorous battle, over several years, with F.T.D and ALS disease.

Upon completion of high school in 1972, Mr. F. Burrows served three plus years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, and an additional seventeen years with the U.S. Navy as an Aircraft Electrician, cumulating an Honorable Discharge and induction into the Fleet Reserve Association in 1996. After his service, Frank went on to work as an independent contractor for thirteen years with Sikorsky and United Technologies (Beeville, TX) as an Aircraft Electronics Technician, Quality Assurance Representative and qualified Aircrew man for deliveries of the Navy’s UH-60 A-A Helicopters. Frank finally retired and settled in Lake City, FL, where he constructed his own home on a beautiful ten-acre wooded lot, free to explore his passions for hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding and his general love for all things outdoors. He was also an active member of the American Legion, Post 0373. Between enlistments, Frank’s fondest memories were of the many good times he shared hunting for deer with his cousin, Jack Burrows, in north Michigan’s, Higgins Lake area. Frank’s other hobbies included, going to Jacksonville Beach with his floating Mobi Wheelchair, just about every Rock and Roll Concert (to include the Rolling Stones) that played in Jacksonville over the last four years. He also enjoyed the Mini Pontoon Speed Boats in St. Augustine, a ride in a vintage Waco Biplane and a Robinson R-22 Helicopter, all usually followed by an evening of fine dining.

Diagnosed with advancing stages of ALS around September of 2017, Frank spent the next year in the Lake City VA Hospital and later transferred to Brooks Bartram Crossing Facility in Jacksonville.

Frank is survived by his father, Donald N. Burrows; beloved sister, Shirley Anne Berry of Orange Park, FL and countless relatives throughout the USA.

The surviving family would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff and many Angels (Keisha and Diane) that touched his life during this period.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
