Gene Alvarez

Gene Alvarez, 82, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Orange Park, FL. He was born on December 27, 1943, in Cuba, to the late Eugenio Alvarez and Florinda Diaz.

Gene was a member of Otis Road Church of God and a retired business owner.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gene enjoyed spending time and making unforgettable memories with each one of his grandchildren, especially fishing.

Family members preceding Gene in death are his parents.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Nydia Rosario; children, Angel Candelario, Freddie E. Diaz, Irma Ivelisse Becker, Luis Mercado, William Mercado and Linda M. Alvarez Pilger; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kinglsey Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073, (904) 264-1233.
