George F. Bagshaw
Our dear George Bagshaw passed from this life August 21, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. He died peacefully at home. George was born August 5, 1932 in Geneva, NY.
He attended school in Geneva and Border City. George enlisted in the Navy June, 1948 and served until January, 1971. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars in aviation squadrons on ships and bases as a maintenance technician, and retired as a Lt. USN.
In 1956 he married Margaret Anne Allen who died in 1997. In 2002 he married Geraldine Mathis Adams.
George graduated with a BA from UNF in Dec., 1973. In 1981 he received his MA from UNF. He taught science and American history at Orange Park Middle and Jr high school from 1973-1994.
He was a member of the Argyle Church of Christ for 16 years. He had been a member of Ortega UMC and later UMC of Orange Park where he taught Sunday school classes for 13 years. He also taught classes in American History, Generation Theory, Geology at the Shepard center in O.P. He enjoyed volunteering at the Clothes Closet in OP and as a docent at the Flagler Museum in St. Augustine.
He is survived by his spouse Geraldine Bagshaw; daughters, Anne B. Davis (Tom), Gwen Downs (Gale) and Rene' Edie (Bob); son, Tim Adams (Vickie); 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be September 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Argyle Church of Christ, 7310 Collins Road, Jacksonville, FL 32222.
