Georgia Beatrice (Burgin) Blanton Wilson, age 105, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2020 at her daughter-in-law’s residence in Fleming Island, FL. Georgia, the third child of George Aden Burgin and Martha Josephine Harris Burgin, was born in Black Mountain, NC, on March 4, 1915.
Her hobby was growing flowers. She was noted for growing her lovely flower gardens and could identify most of the wildflowers and plants that grew on the mountains of western North Carolina. She loved to share her flowers and plants with others. Georgia was one of the kindest and most considerate people on the planet. Everyone who met or knew her adored her sweet nature and spirit.
Georgia loved company and had a delightful and mischievous outlook on life. She was positive, kind, and full of common sense. Georgia enjoyed a good joke and was always laughing and teasing people. She was fun to be around and brought out the best in folks. She had only one piece of advice, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Grace Kincaid, Pearl Bass and Lockey Lawson; husbands, Ernest Blanton and Dwight Wilson, and son, Flakey Blanton.
Georgia is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Parker Blanton; grandchildren, Tracey Lakey (Skip) and Richard Blanton; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Emma, Graham, Chelsa, Richard and Danielle; nephew, George Bass (Chris); nieces, Lula Mae Bass Roberts (Rom), Martha Bass Rector (Marshall) and Jody Lawson Huffman (Skip).
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Black Mountain, NC, at Mountain View Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Clay Home Care Team.
