Remembering the Life’s Journey of Ms. Geraldine Jacobs Talbott
Geraldine Jacobs Talbott was born on March 7, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Robert Jacobs Sr. and Georgia Jacobs. She grew up in Louisville’s Smoketown neighborhood and was a devoted member of Bates Memorial Church. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Carolyn Jacobs and Robert “Brother” Jacobs Jr., as well as her former husband, Leslie Talbott.
A proud graduate of Louisville’s Central High School, Class of 1953, Geraldine built a life rooted in faith, family, and perseverance.
Geraldine was known for her strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and natural ability to connect with people. Beginning in the mid-1970s, she built a successful and fulfilling career in sales, excelling as an Amway and Tupperware consultant, as well as in commercial advertising for WLOU, Louisville’s well-known R&B radio station. Her charisma and determination made her a standout in everything she pursued.
Never one to stop learning, Geraldine achieved a remarkable milestone when she earned her massage therapy license at the age of 70. She practiced for several years before relocating to Orange Park, Florida, in 2009 to be close to her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. In 2010, she joined Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she continued to live a full and purposeful life.
Geraldine’s personal interests reflected her creativity and deep care for others. She enjoyed reading the Bible daily, with Psalm 91 as her favorite scripture. She had a lifelong love of music, a commitment to healthy living, and a remarkable talent for sewing and tailoring. She crafted many of her own garments and designed beautiful, custom-made Easter and graduation dresses for her daughters. A devoted mother and grandmother, she never missed her son’s baseball games and affectionately called her grandson “Stevoney,” lighting up whenever he walked into the room. Supporting her family in all their pursuits brought her endless joy.
Geraldine will be remembered for her elegance, warmth, and unwavering faith. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She leaves cherished memories with her three children, Terry Ellis, Averelle Talbott, and Jeffrey Talbott (Torra); one beloved grandson, Steven Talbott; her sister, Dorothy Southall; four sisters-in-law, Marietta Madison, Bettye Ann Springfield, Gloria Talbott, and Julie Talbott; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
