Gerard “Jerry” Giordano
December 1, 1931 – January 2, 2023
At the age of 92, Jerry peacefully passed away at his home in Orange Park, surrounded by family and listening to the music he loved.
Born to Catholic Italian immigrants Mary and Dominic, Jerry was a cherished husband, dedicated father, and loving grandfather. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Following his military service, Jerry relocated to Vero Beach, Florida in 1955, where his family became an integral part of the local community for decades. An avid entrepreneur, they established various successful businesses, ranging from carpet installation to property management; however, his legacy predominantly revolves around Giordano’s Deli, a cherished establishment he operated from 1973 to 2002. Friends and family gathered at Giordano’s, reveling in the Italian culinary delights he and his wife masterfully prepared, creating a sense of warmth and togetherness. He was an avid fan of The Brooklyn Dodgers, racehorses, Jameson Irish Whiskey, and a stiff Beefeater Gibson martini with onions, not olives, stirred-only, so as not to “bruise the ice”, to the end.
Jerry is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife of 64 years Frances, and daughter, Gerri Hubbard. He is survived by his children, Jacquelyn Rectenwald and Vicki Layton, as well as 1 nephew, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073.
