Harold Cuthbert, 88, passed away on April 23, 2026 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on March 18, 1938 in Meridian, GA, to the late Herbert Cuthbert, Sr. and Eva Williams.
Harold Cuthbert, or "Joni", as he was affectionately called, was a good man. What exemplifies a good man? His quiet power; his silent gaze, as he stares off into space and contemplates which project to check on next, or what task is incomplete. A good man, like "Joni", is one capable of building his own house from the ground up. Taking long trips on Navy ships to help keep America safe, yes, he was a good man. When one of the tires on his wife's or daughters' cars would need changing, he would change all 4 just to be on the safe side. Yes, he was a good man. Went from having a good ol' time, dancing on top of tables (possibly to James Brown), to putting that same effort into putting food on the table to provide for his family, but he could do that. Because, why? He was a good man. A great provider, a passive soul, and a mind full of wisdom. A man of few words, "Joni" did what needed to be done, and articulated his undying love via his actions. He internalized a lot of his emotions because he didn't want us to worry about him, and the irony of it all was he was always worried about us. Yes, a good man, he was. Patient, kind, caring, gentle....he was an enigmatic individual. He possessed the old school virtues that you don't see much of anymore, and, with him gone, the world seems a little less brighter. This man loved his family, he truly did. And would give his last dollar to keep anyone of them warm. He was a good, no....he was a great man, indeed! Harold Cuthbert, or "Joni", as affectionately called, now, you can go on to be a great angel, and your memory will forever reside in our hearts and minds for the remainder of our days. We love you, "Joni"!
