Hattie “Hazel” Perritte Bass, 94, passed away on April 20, 2025 in Orange Park, FL. She was born on June 1, 1930 in Ocoee, FL. to the late Amos Victor Perritte and Esther Abbott Perritte.
Hazel had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, greenery and flowers. She and her husband, Harry, shared their affinity for gardening and often rallied their children to participate, providing their family and friends with an abundance of cultivated vegetables through the years. An ‘Extraordinary Southern Cook’, who’s love language was great food to all who graced her table. Always abounding with an artistic flare, she found a passion for painting late in life. Hazel painted until her hands could no longer hold her brushes steady. An avid reader and puzzler, she could be found with either well into her 80’s. Hazel’s hobbies and interest were gardening, reading, puzzles, cooking, painting, decorating, shopping, clothes and poker.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Harry Luther Bass and beloved son, Scott Douglas Bass.
Hazel is survived by her loving children, Linda Thompson (Ray), Brenda Ritchey, Mark Bass (Amy), Vickie Mays, and Wendi Hill (Bobbie, Jr.); grandchildren, Kristi Mikula, Kenneth Ritchey, Penny Coradi, Andrea John, Amanda Lindau, Zachary Bass, Bobbie Hill, III, Trevor Mays, Madelyn Theobald, Brooks Hill, David Brocktermann and Harry ‘Stevie’ Bass; great-grandchildren, Austin John, Chandler Ritchey, Aidan Coradi, Dylan Bass, Olivia Mays, Ashton Coradi, Alayna Thompson, James Mays. Payton Mays, Declan Lindau, Lillian Winterringer, Oliver Hill, Victoria ‘Tori’ Theobald and Elloway Hill and a host of other family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, 1040 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073.

A visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, and a Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, 10:00 a.m., at Magnolia Cemetery, 1040 Kinsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073.
