Helen Marie (Casey) Joshua

Helen Marie Joshua, 85, passed away on February 17, 2024 in Green Cove Springs, FL. She was born on January 11, 1939 in Fort Bend County, TX, to the late James Morris Casey, Sr. and Johnnie May Casey.

Helen received her high school diploma and later worked as a prep cook. She attended Mount Olive Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Family time was always special to Helen and loved playing Bingo, collecting salt and pepper shakers, dolls and peacocks, playing the lottery.

Family members preceding Helen in death were her parents; husband, Nelson Joshua; son, Sidney Broussard Joshua; brothers, James Morris Casey, Jr., Robert Lee Shaw and Odis Shaw; grandparents, Frank Bedford and Mamie P. Metear Bedford.

Helen is survived by her children, Jeraline Lawrence, Terry J. Lee (Arthur), Jerry G. Joshua, Linda E. Joshua Jackson (Ronald) and Johnnie Mae Snowden (James); nineteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, George Casey and Julius Casey; sisters, Inez Shaw Andrews and Carolyn Shaw-Giles; a host of nephews, nieces, cousin and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
