Janice Kernop, 75, passed away on July 11, 2025. She was born on April 16, 1950 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Donald and Faye Nobles.
Janice was married to Jimmy Kernop for 45 years until his death in 2013. Together they raised two children and navigated the military life moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1982. As a young couple they loved dancing together. As they got older, they loved cruising. Janice relished spending time with her family and friends, listening to country music, watching true crime shows and keeping up with Auburn football and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Larry Nobles; sister, Patricia Hancock and nephew, Daniel Nobles.
Janice is survived by her children, Debbie and Dane; grandchildren, Jared, Justin, Brittany and Lili; brother-in-law, Van Hancock; goddaughter, Kelly Campbell; nieces, Leslie Hall and Mallory Knight; nephew, Jeremy Nobles; best friends, Dave and Donna Campbell and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service, officiated by Matt Hall, will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073, 904-264-1233. Interment will take place on a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.
