Janice “Jan” Morrison, 78, of Fleming Island, Florida passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family on September 30, 2023, having lived a full and happy life.
Jan was a dedicated wife, devoted mother of three boys, and licensed Clinical Social Worker. She provided countless wonderful memories for her children on the family’s travels across the world during her military husband’s tours in California, Virginia, Hawaii, Japan, North Carolina, and Florida.
In her mid-forties, Jan returned to college, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida and Master’s degree in Social Work from East Carolina University. She provided individual, marital, couple and family supportive counseling for many years in North Carolina and Jacksonville.
In retirement, Jan enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting her grandchildren, shopping, reading and watching Hallmark movies. Jan loved Christmas and warmly decorated the house each year. In July 2022, the family joyfully celebrated 50 years of marriage on a Caribbean cruise.
Jan was predeceased by her parents, Melvin, and Muriel Cobb.
She is survived by her loving husband, Colonel (USMC Ret.) John Morrison; three children, Jim (Jennifer), Sean (Kimberly) and Jeff (Carl); six grandchildren, Christian, Ryan, Rob, Matthew, Michael and Allie; brother, Jerald Cobb (Kathy), and a host of other relatives and friends.
