Jeanette Ewing

Jeanette “Jan” Marsico Ewing, 94, passed away peacefully at River Garden Senior Services, Florida on Friday evening May 24, 2019. She was born on September 7, 1924 in Niles, Ohio, daughter of the late James V. and Virginia (Coates) Marsico of Niles, Ohio.

Jeanette married Thomas Ewing in Warren, Ohio in 1947. They moved to Toledo, Ohio, where Jan was a Registered Nurse at Flower Hospital. There, they raised their family and both worked until retirement. Jan and her husband retired to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where they spent the next 7 years.  In 2006, they moved to Orange Park, Florida to be closer to family. 

Jan is survived by her four children; Thomas (Charlotte) Ewing, Jr., Paula (Scott) Kukelhan, Jane Ewing and James (Anne) Ewing; her eight grandchildren; Philip Hall (Natalia), Stephanie Quigley (Casey), Sophie Ewing, Kristina Phelps (Luke), Paul Ewing (Lindsay), Sam Ewing, Stevee Kukelhan and Nathan Worrell, 10 great- grandchildren; Cooper, Bronwyn, Audrey, Parker, Royce,  Mila, William, Thomas, Brynn and Joseph; brother, James (Cynthia) Marsico of Warren and sister, Anna Mae Mix of Florida and a large and extended family of dearly loved nieces and nephews also survive her. 

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years Thomas, her parents James and Virginia; two brothers; Dominic “Bates” Lubert and Rocco “Rocky” Marsico, five sisters; Bessie Vaccaro, Gladys Mannella, Martha Rossi, Lena Renato, and Marie Kozup.

A service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Middleburg, Florida, where she was an active member until moving to River Garden.  She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.

She dearly loved her family and had an incredible will to live life in all circumstances. She will always be in our hearts and missed by many. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at River Garden for the excellent care and love Jan received over the last years of her life with a special thank you to the many wonderful friends who supported us in her final years.
